Making Dementia Friends with Stafford HSBC

Here at Love’s Independent Funeral Directors, we are fortunate to have in our team Susan, who volunteers as a Dementia Friends Ambassador for the Alzheimer’s Society.

A Dementia Friend is somebody that learns about dementia so they can help their community; helping to raise awareness and broaden understanding so that people living with dementia can continue to live in the ways they want to.

Too many people affected by dementia feel that society fails to understand the condition they live with. Dementia Friends help people living with dementia by taking actions – both big and small. From visiting someone you know with dementia to being more patient in a shop queue, every action counts! Dementia Friends can also get involved with things like volunteering, campaigning, or wearing a badge to raise awareness.

Loves Independent Funeral Directors were thrilled to welcome the team from HSBC Stafford to Primrose Cottage for a Dementia Friends Awareness session, and had a wonderful review from Moya from HSBC:

“Myself and my work colleagues from Stafford attended a Dementia Friends at Love’s Independent Funeral Directors in Stafford.

Susan from Love’s Funeral’s approached the branch around a month ago with some information offering the session and informing us that there are steps that we can take as a workplace to make the environment; A Dementia Friendly one.

We walked away with knowledge that will not only enrich our working capabilities and understanding but our personal awareness of what living with Dementia means for the individual and their loved ones.

Love’s Independent Funeral Directors are a credit to the Stafford community and all of our team from HSBC said that if we were to be in a position of losing a loved one, Love’s Independent would be our top choice, due their genuine care, compassion and warmth”

Susan can deliver Dementia Friends sessions for free and would be happy to hear from local groups and organisations that want to find out more – Get in touch.
