About Love’s Independent Funeral Directors

Serving our community with a professional heartfelt approach

As an independent funeral director, we believe that the most important role we have to play in our community is one of support, service, and empathy.

We offer the people we support and take care of a service that blends the best of the old and the new.

When you open the door to our very special funeral home in the historic town of Stafford, you’re guaranteed a warm, friendly welcome.

From there the team will listen to what you need, explore your options with you, and create a farewell for the person who’s died that’s truly worthy of their memory.

Our values

Connection through empathy

When you come to speak to us about arranging a funeral for someone who has died, the last thing you need is hollow, scripted sympathy.
We offer you an empathetic honest service based on genuine connection. Loss is complex – we don’t pretend to know exactly how you’re feeling, but we will be right there at your side as you say goodbye.

Caring with respect

Every person who dies and comes into our care is treated with the utmost respect. Upholding someone’s dignity after they have died is crucial to what we do.
We take great pride in making sure that the people who are with us temporarily at Primrose Cottage have a quiet, calm, safe place to rest before their final journey.

Guided by you

To provide the exceptional levels of service our community deserves, we believe that listening is key. When it comes to the person you’ve lost, you know them best and we refer to that knowledge.
We’re here to support, guide, and listen to you so you can find the best way to say goodbye – in the way that feels right to you.

Stuart Love

Managing Director

Managing Director Stuart is our founder, having lent his very apt surname to help create Love’s Independent Funeral Directors. He is a passionate people-first type, who understands the true value of a warm honest conversation and a steady arm to lean on.

Stuart leads the team and directly supports the people in his community when they need to say goodbye to someone who has died. If you happen to visit us at Primrose Cottage, it will likely be Stuart who welcomes you at the door with a kind word and an offer of a cup of tea.

Having come from a senior role in another well-established independent funeral directors, and with a background in the police service, Stuart uses his experience and knowledge to provide a high calibre service to the people Love’s Funerals support.

Welcome to Primrose Cottage

A centrally located independent funeral home based in the heart of Stafford’s Town Centre

When you’re getting ready to say an important goodbye, the place where you begin that journey should be something special.

Love’s Independent Funeral Directors have the privilege of calling one of the oldest, most iconic buildings in Stafford home: Mill Street’s Primrose Cottage.

A beloved feature of Stafford’s high street since 1610, local people will likely be familiar with the cottage’s distinctive thatched roof and charming black and white shopfront.

A Stafford funeral home centrally located in the town centre

To create our funeral home, we worked with local tradesfolk to sensitively restore the older parts of the building, where we now welcome people in to talk about arranging a funeral.

Within Primrose Cottage there is now Woodlands Rest, a private, beautifully designed space where we invite loved ones to spend special moments before their final goodbye. Woodlands Rest is also equipped for family and friends to gather for a small intimate funeral service if they so wish

Further back, there is also a brand new, well-equipped space where we can bring people who have died into our care, to rest safely and peacefully before their funeral is held.

Our fleet

When you’re saying goodbye to someone who’s died, it might help to know that they’re being carried to their final place of rest in comfort and style.

Our fleet of modern comfortable Mercedes vehicles includes a top-of-the-line hearse and accompanying limousine, which can carry up to seven passengers.

If you’re interested in arranging alternative transport for the person who’s died, such as a horse and carriage or a motorcycle hearse, we can help you find the right arrangements.
